Do DryWallCarolina Fire Rated Drywall Plugs meet fire safety codes?
Yes. DWC Fire Rated Drywall Repair Plugs have met all fire safety codes when installed using backing.

What is "Backing" and why is it so important to fire safety codes?
Modern fire codes, building codes, insurance regulations and various state and federal safety codes require certain drywall constructed walls and ceilings to maintain stability for a minimum of one hour in event of a fire. Any drywall repair performed without using backing will not meet or pass any inspection of theses codes and regulations for any commercial application and most residential fire rated applications. Backing is important because it adds the strength necessary to the repair to be able to resist the pressure from a fire hose should the stream be directed at the repair. Codes state that the repair must be able to handle a direct stream from a fire hose for a minimum of 60 seconds without the drywall repair losing it's structural integrity.

How much money can I save using DWC Fire Rated Drywall Plugs on my project?
While we can't give exact numbers, we can give examples of projects DWC Drywall Repair Plugs have been used on. One project required the upgrading of the fire sprinkler system in an occupied assisted living facility. The customer requested and received a sample drywall plug to show the building inspector, the fire marshal and the state agency that oversees the assisted living facilities. The customer then ordered a total of around 800 DWC Fire Rated Drywall Repair Plugs for the project. They used in-house resources for the installation of the product using an assembly line technique resulting in less disruption to the tenants, maintaining the projects schedule and keeping the interiors fire rating intact while the project was ongoing. The project was completed without the customer having to add a "T&M" drywall contractor as a project resource.
